08/05/2010 Run out to watch Barbon Hillclimb This is a "National A" event, which means the really serious guys will be launching it up the 1/2 mile hill at Barbon.

Barbon is just north of Kirkby Lonsdale - off the Sedburgh road.
The track is approx 1/2 mile long, and viewing from the top of the climb is pretty good, as you can see c.90% of the track.

It is also quite scenic around there, so bring a chair and a picnic and have a great day out.

We are meeting 0950hrs at the Tickled Trout petrol station (just off J31 of the M6), leaving at 10:00 prompt so as to get to Barbon in time to catch the back end of the practice sessions, and get a good spot from which to watch the timed sessions.
Also keep an eye on TVRCC NW Forum to see how is going and from where!

03/05/2010 Gawsworth Hall Car Show Traditionally held on the first Bank Holiday Monday in May, the Gawsworth Hall Car show is open to all pre-1975 cars and later cars of a sporting or interesting nature (therefore including all TVR models!!).

The event was first held in 1998 and last year had about 600 vehicles on display - mainly cars but quite a few motorbikes too.

The Cheshire TVR region won the best club stand in 2008, and the sheer variety of colour, noise, looks that TVRs combine mean they are always popular.

More details can be found by visiting the Gawsworth Hall Website.

25/04/2010 Chatsworth TVR Gathering 676 TVRs were at Chatsworth last year, basking in the April sunshine, with many Lancs members amongst them.

Once again, we are intending to join the convoy down to Derbyshire, meeting at 08:45 at the BP petrol station just off J27 of the M6 (Standish/Parbold), leaving at 09:00 prompt so as to meet up with Blackpool Region at Mottram (Hyde) Premier Inn. From there we will drive over the Snake Pass, via Ladybower Reservoir, and on to Chatsworth.

14/02/2010 Valentine's Day Walk up Pendle Hill Following the success of last year’s amble up Beacon Fell, an intrepid bunch turned up for a Valentine's Day walk on the 14th February, from the Nick of Pendle, over Pendle Hill to Barley.

20/06/2009 Big Bad Wedge Fest - Blackpool Thanks to the efforts of Tony Cole, the BBWF was a great event (although breaking the oil pump drive on his Wedge must have taken the shine off things for Tony!)

And here is an official BBWF report, from Valerie Hollows:

Saturday morning I woke up early, exited at going to the BBWF in my own car.
I had been busy all week with the clay, polish & wax trying to get it looking as good as I possibly could.

Heron's reach was quite easy to find, just follow signs for the zoo. From the car park we could hear the barks of the sealions waiting to be fed.
It was raining when we left Wigan so my first job when we got there was to chammy off all the water. We then had a wander round the car park.
A couple of rows away we found 10 wedges parked up together - this was the contingent who had arrived and stayed over on Friday.
Amongst the cars was Neil's old mica red 400SE. New owner Gareth & his wife joined us later in the reserved wedge fest parking area.

At 11 o'clock a few of us were asked if we wanted to take part in a photo shoot with the Automedon sponsored Blackpool tram. We had wanted a photo shoot on the front but the local council wouldn’t allow it, so off we went to the tram depot.
Tony's rather loud 350 managed to set off the alarm of a Mercedes both on the way there and back.
The photo shoot took about an hour by the time we'ed lined up all the cars how they were wanted. We should have some good one's for Sprint though.
Automedon also presented every wedge owner with a commemorative mug & stick of rock!

Back at the hotel is was time to start the concours judging. This year it was the honour of ex-TVR owner & wedge inventor Martin Lilley along with Lancashire region's White Elephant owner, Howard Bryan to decide the best wedge. Second went to a red 350i FHC & First place was a mint green 350i. This was the first 350 to be made & had been lovingly restored.

Also during the afternoon we had a detailing demonstration by Elite Detailing and the loudest wedge competition.
My wedge was rather quiet measuring just 109 decibels and the winning car registering 121 decibels (Ed's note - Peter Wheelers 5000M was actually loudest at 137db, but as it wasn't a Wedge it couldn't win!!).
Ex-TVR owner Peter Wheeler's 5000M paid us a visit & had a specialy reserved & covered parking spot.
At 3.30 the wedgers paid tribute to the recently desceased Peter by having a mass rev up. What a noise & quite a fitting tribute.
At 4.30 all the wedgers set off for a run along Blackpool prom. We stopped on the hotel drive, but why? The one at the front didn't know the way, so as we were localish we proceeded to the front & led the convoy to the starting point outside Pontins.
Once everyone was assembled we led everyone along the prom. Unfortunately we were thwarted by horse & carriages and too many speed cameras from giving it any. We did manage some reving of the engine at traffic lights to please the locals.
We turned off the prom & made our way to Bristol Avenue for a photo shoot outside the old factory. It was so nice to see all the cars lined up there.
It had been a great day, meeting old friends & making plenty of new ones but now it was about time for us to go home. Unfortunately I had left my roof back at the hotel, so back there first & on to the M6 for our short journey home.
Sunday morning we returned to Blackpool to Bristol Ave to have a look round the old factory & have a chat with the staff from some of the companies which are now making use of the space. It was great to see the work being done there by Surface Design & D&C Trim, to name a couple.
Here's looking forward to next year & lets try and get a few more there.
